Awadh Restaurant Review:

Dining on the upper sides of Manhattan can be disappointing, but this upscale Indian restaurant is almost destination-worthy. Cocktails pop with tang, like the Indian Summer comprising rum, muddled mango, lime and fresh green chiles. The wine list is sophisticated, with many bottles priced for the deep pockets of the Upper West Side clientele. Meanwhile, Awadh murgh tikka is an intensely spiced grilled chicken, tender from a pomegranate marinade. Yellow lentil and spinach cakes are also a house specialty. Lamb shanks, simmered overnight, have a depth of flavor that complements biryani rice with coriander and mint potatoes. Wind down with the traditional gulab jamun: fluffy dumplings atop rosewater syrup.
