Agu Ramen Restaurant Review:

Agu feels different from a more traditional ramen-ya shop. The bistro-like setting is sleek and modern, and the ambience carries over to the cheerful servers and innovative menu. Tonkotsu ramen is the most popular variety, served with thin Hakata-style noodles in a rich pork broth that is boiled for at least 18 hours before making its way into your bowl. Enhancements include black garlic oil or an umami-filled heaping of shaved Parmesan. The truly daring diner may order spicy kotteri tonkotsu with a heat level between 1 and 5, or an off-the-chart "Epic," which we don't recommend unless you want to burn your taste buds. While ramen is clearly the star, don't miss sharing an appetizer or two. We recommend the chicken karaage served hot with a spicy Okinawan ponzu dipping sauce, or the addictive Jidori kawa (crispy chicken skin). Agu has a range of beer, shochu and saké, plus a few bottles of wine (unusual for a ramen restaurant).
