Annunciation Restaurant Review:

Old buildings in New Orleans never stay vacant for long, and the best evidence is the renovated early-1900s warehouse that’s now home to Annunciation. Handsome canvas awnings shade the old stone structure, while crisp white tablecloths, barge board floors and bistro chairs provide an inviting ambience amidst the exposed brick walls. Creole and Cajun inflections keep the seasonal menu true to the restaurant's intentions. Chef Jacob Cureton offers a selection of plates small, medium (we like the pan-seared veal sweetbreads) and large (go upscale with the chef’s lobster risotto). When Louisiana crabs are in season, the fried soft-shell crab with crab meat meunière sauce and the spinach and artichoke risotto will vie for your affections. Oyster lovers will enjoy them baked, served with boudin, and with a hollandaise sauce. Or go classic Louisiana with the osso buco with charred corn. End the meal with the chocolate brownie gelato, or a traditional New Orleans lemon ice box pie. The wine list complements the dishes; it's nice to see several crisp Sauvignon Blancs offered, since this grape pairs well with so much of the food.
