The Arcade Restaurant Review:

Founded in 1919 and redesigned in the 1950s, The Arcade has stood the test of time and seen the South Main Arts District around it go from bustling to seedy to bustling again. Inside, the place looks just like a retro Memphis diner should, with boomerang tabletops, brightly colored vinyl booths and plenty of Elvis memorabilia. Diners can even eat in Elvis’ favorite booth, which is marked with a plaque. The breakfast menu features typical diner fare: eggs, hash browns, biscuits, bacon and sausage. Lunch and weekend dinner options range from meat-and-three plate lunches to gourmet pizzas (a buffalo chicken pie topped with celery and ranch; Southwestern pizza anointed with tortilla chips and sour cream). For a true taste of Memphis, try the fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. We suggest the beignets with powdered sugar for dessert. Or if you’re enjoying The Arcade late on a weekend night, go for the Shake It Like a King adult milkshake (vanilla ice cream, Baileys Irish Cream, banana rum, peanut butter and fresh bananas).
