Atwoods Pizza Cafe Restaurant Review:
Located on the corner of a classic Atlanta building, this relatively small café nestles into a space created by old brick walls. The pizza kitchen is part of the décor, and tables range from two-tops to high-tops for community dining. Pizza is the main draw; an eight-inch version is available at lunch. We like the chewy crust on these beauties, with their slightly charred, blistered edges. The margherita may be our favorite; certainly it's one of the best of the genre we've ever had. After that, the tartufo is a good choice. The tasty Calabrese comes with the spicy sausage associated with that region of Italy. You may build your own pizza, too, choosing from a variety of toppings. There are sandwiches as well. The arugula-based salad with roasted butternut squash, dried cherries, Gorgonzola and walnuts is something worth a trip to Midtown for its own sake. The wine list is short and to the point, with three whites and three reds from around the wine world, and a few beers are available.
