Auberge de l'Ile Restaurant Review:
This restaurant, located at the heart of the île Barbe on the Saône River, has made progress on all fronts since our last visit. Its smiling hostess oversees a friendly, efficient staff which helps account for the relaxed atmosphere that prevails in the pretty old dining room (the building itself is a bona fide historical monument). Chef Jean-Christophe Ansanay-Alex is adept at taking the finest ingredients and fine-tuning them into interesting, light, tremendously flavorful dishes. What may appear to be simple also proves to be rich in flavor and never, but never, commonplace, including the enticing desserts. If you're a big eater, you'll be satisfied with the hefty prix-fixe menu. Impressive cellar.
