Forget about your Chicago-style or Wolfgang Puck pizza, and your deep-dish pie. This is the real deal: thin, fresh and spicy. Taking one bite of a Bella pizza hot from the oven is to understand why the dish became an all-American favorite. Bella is a neighborhood draw, but loyalists drive for miles to eat here. Offerings include decent subs, calzones and a complete Italian-American menu at the tiny table service sector to the right of the pizza pickup bar, too. Fans of Italian food may be surprised by the delicacy of some of the dishes, such as chicken Contessa, made with prosciutto, mozzarella and tomatoes in a red wine demi-glace, or the penne Grazziella featuring chicken breast, broccoli, mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes and a subtle pink sauce. Salads are bright and made with a generous hand.
