Bosscat Kitchen & Libations Restaurant Review:

This lively venue rests near the border of Irvine and Newport Beach and is a welcome, breezy dining option in an area dominated by towering office buildings. The front of the space completely opens up to the patio, giving the rustic wood interior and large, bustling bar the feel of a beachfront shack with zero pretense, even as well-dressed types looking to strut their stuff at the adjacent nightclub infiltrate the scene as the evening progresses. Boston native and executive chef Peter Petro taps into his love for Southern fare with a compact menu offering the likes of pulled pork hush puppies served with Carolina barbecue mustard; Cajun brick chicken with Charleston Gold heirloom dirty rice; Nashville hot frog's legs; and chicken fried steak with gumbo gravy at weekend brunch. We recommend the eponymous burger if you're looking for gastropub fare done right. For dessert, there’s a bourbon chocolate silk custard. Folks in need of a libation at the end of a work day can gravitate to the aforementioned bar and indulge in a host of cocktails. Brown liquor aficionados might readily lose themselves in the massive list of whiskeys, bourbons and single malts.
