Brasserie Saint James Restaurant Review:

Brewery owner Art Farley (Saint James Infirmary) launched Brasserie Saint James to pair his craft ales, porters and saisons with rustic, mostly hearty cuisine. Located in the historic Crystal Springs Water building, the brasserie is a large open space (big groups are quite comfortable) darkened by reclaimed wood walls, floors and ceilings; patrons can enjoy a peek into the distillery from the upstairs outdoor patio that is lantern-lit by night. Chef Erick Caballero brings both French and Latin flair to menu items such as duck confit cassoulet, Argentine skirt steak, and good starters like bone marrow canoes and boudin noir. For larger parties, the Buenos Aires barbecue won't leave anyone hungry; though we found the cuts of chicken and lamb a bit dry, the juicy sausage, grilled vegetables, salad and accompaniments made the generous order a good bet. Lighter fare includes seasonal pappardelle and ginger soy salmon salad. Indulge in a soft brownie or bread pudding with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
