Brick Store Pub Restaurant Review:

Beer lovers will assume they've ascended to Nirvana when they ponder the multi-page list of American and imported suds. Upstairs, the Belgian Beer Bar focuses entirely on brews from the latter tradition. Microbrews include some from several local breweries, among them, offered on draught, beers from nearby Three Taverns (we like the Prince of Pilsen) and Wild Heaven, as well as Atlanta's Second Self, McDonough's Jailhouse, Alpharetta's Jekyll and Athens' Creature Comforts. Expensive and exotic options dot the list, with some setting you back $30 for a 750 ml. bottle. All are served at proper temperatures and in correct glassware that's never frosted. The kitchen turns out good burgers made from Brasstown's grass-fed beef from North Carolina, fried cod that's not greasy for the fish 'n' chips (perhaps the city's best fries), and deeply flavored Brunswick stew. Try the two-hander meatloaf sandwich on bread from local bread guru H & F Bakery. In cold weather, we look forward to the raclette in a small cast-iron pan. For dessert, get the buttermilk crème brûlée, although it's more like a pudding than a custard, accompanied by pickled strawberries. The wine list isn't nearly as notable as the beer portfolio, but it is carefully and intelligently selected.
