Café Robey Restaurant Review:

Wicker Park’s most recognizable address --- the Six Corners --- inherits a fresh sense of style in this casually cool, all-day eatery where destination visitors and locals mingle over avocado toast and meaty lobster rolls. Housed in The Robey hotel, the industrial-inspired restaurant makes the most of its diagonal space with two-tops and banquettes with expansive views of the neighborhood’s busiest intersection. This is no bacon-n-eggs joint; think sophisticated plates such as buttermilk pancakes topped with whipped ricotta, toasted coconut and lime maple syrup. The fried chicken sandwich heats up the tastebuds with pickles, chips, mayo and Tabasco. Dinner plays to sharing with small plates of pork belly cassoulet, grilled octopus and fried Montauk calamari, or entrée-size tagliatelle Bolognese or a tender roasted Amish chicken. Make supper a little more ceremonious with the raw bar, with by-the-piece oysters and lump crab, and desserts including a pear tart, posset and caramel pudding. A well-edited cocktail list boasts local breweries such as Revolution and Goose Island, while sips nod to the classics. A favorite? The Fish House Punch, a powerful concoction of Cognac, rum, peach brandy, lemon and nutmeg.
