About the restaurant: Master pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani has made some changes to his North Beach restaurant, including shifting the focus to Detroit-style pizza and bringing on fellow World Pizza Champion, chef Laura Meyer, to lead the culinary program. Brick walls, tin ceilings and giant red leather booths set the stage, supported by a 1920s-era bar that serves up local beers and craft cocktails with a focus on whiskey. Patio tables are available.

Food & Drinks: Gemignani’s wood-fired oven turns out light, creamy shared plates like whole artichoke on a bed of spinach and provolone cream. Pizza can be ordered in the following styles: cracker thin, cast-iron pan, deep dish, stuffed and Detroit-style (cooked in steel pans). The “Old Chicago” features Italian sausage and meatballs. The “Frank Nitti” incorporates chunks of spinach and ricotta. Only here will you find “The Dillinger," with a smoked Hangar One vodka cream sauce, marinated chicken, bacon, broccolini, artichoke hearts, red onions, red bell peppers and more. Other specialties include Italian beef sandwiches and housemade ravioli.
