Chat 19 Restaurant Review:

Chat 19 rounds out the trio of restaurants developed by owner Mario Fava in the Westchester area --- the other two are Lusardi's and Moscato. With its chic yet laid back downtown New York City feel, the restaurant has carved out a stylish niche in Larchmont. Exposed brick walls and wood paneling set off the earth tones of deep reds and browns that define the space, while the menu features an eclectic selection of international favorites. Starters like the warm Brussels sprouts and bacon salad are full of roasted flavors, while the jumbo lump crab cake is sinewy with a touch of seafood sweetness. Entrées are similarly diverse, drawing from an array of culinary influences. These include the Thai-inspired free-range chicken gai yang that evokes Southeast Asian flavors and the flaky branzino a la plancha that recalls the Mediterranean. Creative cocktails, including a number of fruity martinis, put the lounge aspect at Chat 19 into perspective. Ultimately, beyond the fare, style is the flavor that draws the crowds.
