Talk about staying power: This steak joint, renowned for its ridiculously inexpensive slabs of beef, has been appeasing blue-collar workers, chefs, in-the-know locals and tourists for decades. The Formica tables and booths are tattered, the no-nonsense staff doesn't pull any punches and the cafeteria-like line to the register isn't exactly speedy. Still, the tender cuts of cow, loaded baked potatoes, Texas toast and iceberg lettuce salads drive a hard bargain unmatched in a city that's an otherwise expensive cattle call to carnivores.
