Copper Kitchen Restaurant Review:

The Southwest School of Art was once home to an order of French nuns, and the historic limestone compound still inspires reverence. The welcoming Copper Kitchen occupies the old Ursuline dining room. Lined in limestone and furnished with a hodgepodge of antique chairs and tables, the room itself is a feast for the eyes, but the volunteer-run cafeteria could use a little burnishing if it’s to attract a younger clientele. The menu is limited to soups, a grilled Reuben, a BLT, a chicken salad plate---and a couple of daily specials such as enchiladas that evoke school lunches. But we have liked a grilled turkey sandwich with poblano chiles and Swiss, and find soups such as cream of asparagus fine in nostalgic fashion. And then there are sheet cakes cut into neat, church-social squares. Relax, you are going back, way back.
