Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
Offering relief from rigorous retail romps in the upscale shopping mall in which it abides, Davio's also is a good choice for a business meal or before-or-after movie dining. The place has a club-like setting, an open kitchen and an enclosed all-weather patio. One might partake of just the starters, such as a substantial Jonah lump crab cake or warm burrata with American speck. Signature openers include the marchi, or tiny spring rolls, filled with savory ingredients. As this is an Italian steakhouse, pasta dishes are prominent and may be ordered in appetizer portions. We find the hand-rolled potato gnocchi, whose embellishments will vary frequently, more than filling as a main dish. The restaurant serves hormone-free, antibiotic-free corn-fed Brandt beef. While steaks appeal --- this is one filet worth ordering --- the tender short rib turns our head. Expect poultry and seafood dishes as well. Bring your vegetarian buddies, as there's plenty to keep them happy. Desserts vary, but if the vanilla bean panna cotta surmounted with simple fruits is on tap, give it consideration. While Davio’s is a bit formal for some children, the lengthy kids’ menu is composed of worthwhile choices. Extensive bar and gluten-free items are available. The wine list is devoted to Italian labels, and that's really the best group of selections, but you’ll find picks from other parts of the wine-growing world. Service is friendly and professional. The patio is open to patrons with small dogs.
