Eats Kitchen & Bar Restaurant Review:

The redesigned Hotel Irvine (née the Hyatt Regency Irvine) has created a sleekly retro flagship eatery that takes the starch out of the hotel dining concept. Light woods, bright hues and an open space with booths and tables lend the kind of relaxing vibe that business types might want after a long day of presentations, while the mid-century-themed lounge furniture in the adjacent Red Bar makes it a cool place to grab a cocktail, craft beer, or a selection from the interesting wine list. Large glass doors open out to the patio, which features a fire pit. The kitchen rolls out rather good takes on the usual gastropub suspects like mac ‘n’ cheese, flatbreads and burgers, available for lunch and dinner. Items such as the Italian chorizo-stuffed fried deviled eggs and garganelli Bolognese with beef and veal ragù add pops of intrigue amid the standards. For dessert, you may find chocolate mud pie with Nutella sauce and hazelnut crumble. Early-risers can stop by for breakfast and enjoy plated fare like huevos rancheros, while weekenders can explore an extensive Saturday and Sunday brunch menu complemented by build-your-own mimosas.
