Et Voilà! Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: The respected French team from Tapenade, GM Ludo Mifsud and chef Vincent Viale, mans this bustling bistro, a neighborhood haunt whether you’re in the mood for a little fromage and fig country bread or classic dishes like escargots, duck confit or coq au vin.

Likes: Authentic French bistro; soufflé.
Dislikes: None.

Food & Drinks: Order up a Lillet rose apéritif or venture into the craft cocktail realm and discover the pleasures of a maple-thyme Old Fashioned with walnut bitters. Food-wise, a sure-fire hit is the ravioli aux champignons, homemade pillowy pasta with white truffle oil and port wine mushroom sauce that’s sumptuous and rich, making it a nice dish to share. The braised candy striped beet salad comes with warm goat cheese, equally pretty and delicious, while the traditional French onion soup with melted Emmental passes the test for purists. Penn Cove mussels rest in a bath of white wine, shallots, garlic and a welcome touch of Gorgonzola. While both the coq a vin and cassoulet are rich and well-executed, the game menu entices with unique offerings like pheasant stuffed with black truffle, chestnut gnocchi and yam mousseline, or a pan-roasted elk with a savory/sweet combo of blackberry jam and peppercorn sauce. Craving steak au poivre? The flatiron bedecked in green peppercorn sauce does not disappoint. Be sure to save room for the passion fruit soufflé.
