Firefly Restaurant Review:
There's no sign to let you know that you've arrived at Firefly, so look for the vine-covered exterior of this Studio City hideaway. The front area is a sexy library lounge, with comfortable sofas and book-lined shelves, where you can sip craft cocktails from the bar. Meanwhile, the romantic garden patio, washed with candlelight and warmed by a flickering fireplace at night, lets guests slip into intimate cabanas or socialize on the terrace. The space opens out onto an ivy-draped hillside that provides a beautiful green backdrop. Nibble on crispy olives or cheese and house-made charcuterie to start. The menu continues with contemporary American fare like steelhead salmon with seasonal vegetables; pulled chicken with whipped polenta, escarole and pickled cherry; and filet mignon with smoked potato purée, broccolini and bordelaise. These main dishes can also be found on the three-course prix-fixe menu, which concludes with butterscotch budino or coconut panna cotta. The French/California focused wine list has many good options, among them select Napa Cabernets, and a pricey range of French bubbles plays well with the more luxe selections.
