Grace Tavern Restaurant Review:

Some bars just feel indigenous to Philly, and Grace Tavern, with its dim lighting, tin ceilings and affable vibe, is one of them. The Graduate Hospital boîte serves a small menu of fare befitting its equally diminutive seating capacity, the most classic choices being the zesty sausage sandwiches (spinach and feta; boudin blanc; and a definitively local pork sausage with Italian spices and fried onions). Try the blackened green beans with rémoulade, an appealing and slightly healthier alternative to french fries. (Those can be had here, too.) Like so many of the city’s gastropubs, this kitchen keeps its vegan customers appeased with a hearty cruelty-free burger, and this one stands up to the increasing competition. The old-fashioned beef patties are respectable as well, especially when topped with the obligatory Kennett Square mushrooms. The ten taps show a bias for regional beers, but a well-rounded bottle list showcases a solid domestic and European mix. Come early to snag a table and come often to enjoy the friendly service.
