Hatch Yakitori + Bar is situated among the collection of shops and eateries at DTLA complex The Bloc. The sprawling space features pale pine furniture, airy windows and patio seating. Chef Daniel Shemtob (winner of The Great Food Truck Race) offers up yakitori grilled on binchōtan charcoal including chicken with plum, beef with shiso, and seared ahi; he also has a specialty “black menu” with black fried rice, black ramen and black karaage. Alongside yakitori, there are signature bento boxes, fresh oysters, sashimi and a good selection of Japanese saké and beer.
