THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Hope & Anchor Restaurant Review:

Red Hook has been a Brooklyn gentrification project for a while---starting with the conversion of waterfront warehouses into commercial spaces for glass-blowing, woodwork and other artisanal enterprises. A block from New York Harbor is the retro-cool diner Hope & Anchor, where you can get a hot pastrami on rye with whole-grain mustard and wash it down with a “red hooker” (Makers Mark and peach purée) or a cherry coke. Entrées range from about a dozen different burger varieties to chicken potpie to fish tacos. Short-sleeved local businessmen who are born-and-bred Brooklynites rub elbows with aspiring artists who've moved here for the cheap rent. The Hope & Anchor is a friendly a place where you can pull up a chair, fill up on decent food and meet someone new.
