Ivar's Salmon House Restaurant Review:
The dramatic re-creation of a Coastal Indian longhouse makes for an impressive setting. Add panoramic views of Lake Union and downtown Seattle to a 400-seat interior featuring wooden, hand-carved totem-poles and Native American-inspired art and you begin to understand the aura of Ivar's Salmon House. Order a few appetizers, such as the warm crab dip or herb-dusted fried calamari, or go for a hearty bowl of one of Ivar’s signature chowders: white, salmon or seafood. Salad lovers will enjoy the warm spinach salad tossed with bacon, dried sweetened cranberries, walnuts and goat cheese. Among the entrées, order something cooked on the alderwood plank grill, such as salmon, chicken or black cod, to honor another native cooking tradition. Also check out the daily fresh-sheet for seasonal seafood specials. If you’re a connoisseur of fish ‘n’ chips, you won’t be disappointed by the beer-battered, wild Alaskan halibut version served here. There's even a kids’ menu parents will find quite appealing. For picnic-style lakeside dining, order from the outdoor Fish Bar.
