Joe Vicari’s Andiamo Italian Steakhouse Restaurant Review:
A fixture in Detroit with several locations in the Motor City, this Italian steakhouse at The D Las Vegas is the first Andiamo branch outside the state of Michigan. An Old Vegas feel is mixed with modern lines, with a brick-lined hallway, dark woods and high-backed, semi-private booths that are softly lit by decorative glass domes. Meals begin with bread served with a tapenade of roasted eggplant, tomatoes, olives and capers. Follow it with lobster bisque, large chunks of the crustacean in a rich broth with a sherry reduction. All-natural, hormone-free beef is dry-aged a minimum of 30 days and served in cuts such as the 16-ounce New York strip, 24-ounce porterhouse and a 32-ounce rib-eye. Handmade pastas include lobster risotto, with black truffles, tender asparagus and lobster meat in every bite. Chef Joseph Parrino, a native of Sicily, creates nightly specials, such as tender Chilean sea bass served atop pea risotto. Finish with bread pudding accented by cherry, raisin, walnut and pistachio with raspberry cream. A well-rounded wine selection offers more than 80 choices, mainly from regions of Italy and California.
