John O'Groats Restaurant Review:

Bring a newspaper to read when you come for breakfast on Sunday morning as there will likely be a wait. The restaurant, which opened in 1982, is named after a tiny Scottish town. The Rancho Park coffee shop features a blue and white tile floor and a white counter with blue stools. If you prefer table service, there’s also an inviting dining room. The kitchen is especially adept with breakfast, offering buttermilk or mango-macadamia nut pancakes, salmon hash and eggs with home fries, and the full throttle Huevos O’Groats --- a biscuit dough tortilla topped with black beans, sautéed onions and peppers, two eggs, shredded cheese, sour cream and salsa. Later in the day, expect tasty soups, crisp and non-greasy fish 'n' chips and a crab melt with avocado and melted provolone. Since the kitchen is tiny and the staff is small, expect a lag time between ordering and eating. Be patient, but if that’s not possible, there's also take-out and free delivery.
