Jones Wood Foundry Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: Every neighborhood should have a cozy gastropub like Jones Wood Foundry. A friendly place with attentive, knowledgeable service, this is not a trendy spot. Rather, it’s inviting and unpretentious, serving up solid British dishes under the auspices of chef Jason Hicks.

Food & Drinks: Hicks' English roots show in starters like toasts with salt cod mash. The menu of English comfort food continues with salmon, fish and chips, and Myers of Keswick bangers and mash, with standard sides like minted mushy peas. The restaurant is set in a nineteenth-century former foundry; there’s an inviting beer and wine bar, a semi-private communal table room and a brick-walled main dining area. Try one of the wine cocktails (no hard liquor here) together with the warm sticky toffee pudding paired with treacle sauce, or a slice of milk chocolate and sea salt pie. Or select from a menu of English and Scottish beers for a fitting nightcap.
