THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED La Urbana Restaurant Review:

La Urbana (as its name suggests) is an urban adventure in modern Mexican cuisine, elevating the concept of traditional down-home cantinas with original arrays of arguably out-there ingredients that meld successfully most of the time. The setting is a carefully chaotic jumble of Kahlo-esque colors, salvaged artifacts, tiles and art-touched ethnic furnishings. Try the huevos con chorizo, served with potato purée, lime cream and nasturtium leaf, or a menudo featuring braised oxtail, hominy, clams and cabbage tostadas. Meatless, rice-based chicharrones replace tortilla chips. Desserts include a chocolate crémeux with Oaxacan chocolate, canela tuile and mezcal gelée resembling a painting by Joan Miró. Artisanal mezcal is the backbeat behind the restaurant itself, driving an exciting cocktail menu with offerings that include violet-flower margaritas and strong mezcal-saké martinis. In the restaurant's adjacent garage space is Garage Urbano, a casual annex featuring table games, Mexican craft beers and an honor bar.
