The Lake House Restaurant Restaurant Review:

A romantic ambience and menu offerings that take their inspiration from European cuisines with a New American flair unite at this Bay Shore restaurant, fulfilling the dreams of many Long Islanders seeking dinner with a view. Appetizers include fish and seafood like oysters on the half-shell and tuna tartare, but more elaborate dishes are also available, like suckling pig with fried quail egg and polenta. Entrées tend to be meat- or fish-centric and feature sophisticated sides. Roasted Berkshire pork chop with green apple, yam, blue cheese and caramelized onion gratin and maple-bacon sauce is a favorite. The dessert menu includes fun plays on classics like a raspberry crème brûlée or mint chocolate chip profiteroles, but there’s also a cheese plate, unfortunately not featuring any local Long Island selections. The Sunday jazz brunch is a popular event, with an equally elaborate menu highlighting dishes like duck confit hash and eggs or buttermilk blueberry pancakes with pecan butter, to be enjoyed as a jazz band plays in the background. Service can be slightly slow, but the tasty food makes up for it.
