Le Zoo Restaurant Review:

About the restaurant: French brasserie Le Zoo is from restaurant magnate Stephen Starr. Nestled less than 100 feet away from Makoto at the ritzy Bal Harbour Shops, this venture is an ode to Paris' sidewalk cafés. Patrons can dine on the lush palm patio or in the salon where they can watch the creation of towers of fruits de mer or be whisked away to old Paris via intricate detailing (ceiling tiles fashioned from cork, an old train station clock and vintage lighting).

Food & Drinks: Classic French fare includes pungent onion soup gratinée, earthy mushroom tart with truffled pecorino, foie gras terrine with kumquat confit and brioche, escargots whirling in hazelnut butter, and traditional frogs’ legs. Choose from salads, a few pasta dishes (king crab angel hair with crème fraîche and Fresno chili), and typical French mains, from steak frites to steak au poivre, and grilled loup de mer to moules frites and an impeccably cooked trout amandine with toasted almonds, haricots verts and beurre noisette. Do as they do in France and go with fromage before dessert (Le Zoo offers a selection of regional French cheeses), and then order profiteroles.
