Manuel’s Vintage Room Restaurant Review:

Following the success of his first Gainesville eatery, the Italian-inspired Daniela’s, restaurateur Manuel Chavez and executive chef Marco Chavez have capitalized on Manuel’s vast wine knowledge by opening Manuel’s Vintage Room. True fine dining experiences are few and far between in this college town, but within the lofty brick walls, this Manhattan-size restaurant space is a fine place to unwind or get cozy over a subtly dry Sancerre or vibrant Shiraz-Tempranillo. Gleaming wood floors and bottles of wine lining the walls complete a cellar ambience. In addition to the worldly array of vintages, the mainly Italian menu adds some exotic flavors taken from Manuel’s travels as well as choice local products. There’s grouper sautéed in a sweet Cognac sauce, soft lobster ravioli dripping in truffle cream sauce, or a bold porterhouse steak topped with a Gorgonzola and prosciutto sauce. For the adventurous, there's a $75 five-course tasting menu---featuring French wines---that will pique your palate. Conversation flows but doesn’t overpower the intimate atmosphere and Manuel himself is there to greet his patrons. Reservations are required in this intimate space.
