Meiwah Restaurant Restaurant Review:

Meiwah’s Chevy Chase location draws customers from all over the district, longing for the flavor of an honest Chinese meal. Keeping an eye on the kitchen crew is the owner, Larry La, who kicked off the local Chinese food craze years ago with his beloved City Lights of China. Although he has long since moved on to the Meiwah scene, La has kept the integrity of his recipes and dishes intact. You can’t go wrong with his pan-fried noodles with vegetables, the crispy tofu in a special sauce, or the lemon chicken. If you like lamb, don’t skip the spicy Hunan lamb (only one chili), and if you are trying to keep to a calorie-counting regimen, check out the rather unusual menu section titled “Atkins Friendly.” La also has his kitchen prepare several sushi and hand-wrapped rolls, which is a departure from strictly Chinese fare. But the Chinese food is the kind of cooking that reminds one of Hong Kong and the specialty restaurants there.
