Bryce Gilmore's brick-and-mortar version of Odd Duck, his food truck, showcases a seasonal menu featuring only ingredients sourced from local farms --- and he highlights those ingredients with "char" from the grill in completely innovative ways. Gilmore sends out favorites like black olive pasta with braised goat, or fried quail with cheddar biscuits and beans. And when he's not tending to the grill, he might just serve you a grapefruit vodka drink from the bar, which wraps around a custom wood-fired oven that turns out some of the best baked hops-and-grain bread and gourmet pizza in Austin. The bar menu also touts house-made ginger beer and cucumber soda, plus local craft beers and an array of wine and spirit choices. While there’s the andouille sausage with a cornmeal pancake, it’s the in-season vegetables, like the zucchini pancake, that are a true indication of Gilmore's talent. Desserts also pay homage to the seasons, and we recommend the corn panna cotta with grapefruit caramel. By the way, if you're feeling especially generous, you can buy beers for the kitchen staff (it’s a menu item!).
