Entrepreneur Santos Uy presents Papilles, a true charmer with a name that means "taste buds" in French. Expect a weekly-changing prix-fixe menu of French bistro dishes with some sophisticated contemporary accents. A meal might begin with broccoli velouté or escargot and mushroom persillade, followed by hanger steak with sauce bordelaise or duck breast complemented by plum sauce. Finales involve either a cheese plate or well-executed sweets like butterscotch pot de crème or chocolate terrine with crème anglaise. When the season arrives, truffles are available to enhance the experience, and reasonably priced wines from throughout France add to the pleasures of Papilles. With candlelit wood tables and banquettes, and generous art on brightly colored walls, this is an intimate and homey bistro attended to by a gracious staff.
