Pizzeria Bufala Restaurant Review:
A hub for well-executed, flavorful pizzas, Pizzeria Bufala has attracted hordes of pizza lovers ever since it opened a couple of years ago. Lineups (groups, couples and families) are the name of the game, but things move quickly, and you can start the party immediately with a glass of wine or cocktail while checking out fragrant pies sailing by on their way to hungry diners. Once seated, dive into the house meatballs or a refreshing arugula and grapefruit salad. Follow this course with beautifully blistered stone-oven-baked pizzas such as the classic margherita; finocchiona with fennel sausage, Castelvetrano olives, caramelized onions, provolone and marinara sauce; or green peas and ham kicked up a notch with smoked ham, English peas, Taleggio and truffle oil. Desserts ranging from a salted caramel budino with mascarpone crema to the chocolate hazelnut cheesecake make a satisfying finish. Cocktails are also Italianesque or twists on the classics. The beer selection is mostly local with a few choice U.S. imports --- hello, Portland --- and there's a concise wine list touching all the bases from sparklers and rosés to reds and whites. Servers are friendly and efficient.
