Portofino Restaurant Review:

You might mistake this restaurant for a sports bar, a clubhouse or even a dance club, but it’s actually a casual Italian hangout. Located in the heart of Old Quebec, Portofino is housed in a historic building dating to 1760 and is adorned with flags from various Italian sports teams as well as olive oil containers and even giant bottles of Champagne. Start with a Negroni then move on to one of a legion of pizzas, from the “Pizza Grizzly” with its smoked salmon, sour cream and chives to the Tuscan version with chicken, the four-cheese or the Calabrese sausage varieties. Pastas include the Alfredo with rich Parmesan sauce and the linguine ai frutti di mare with a wealth of clams, oysters, shrimp and scallops in a white wine sauce. The restaurant stocks 7,000 wines that encompass just about every region of Italy as well as the world.
