Ray’s and Stark Bar Restaurant Review:

Patina Restaurant Group is behind Ray’s and Stark Bar, located at LACMA next to the Lynda and Stewart Resnick Exhibition Pavilion. (Like the museum, the restaurant and bar are also closed Wednesdays.) Architect Renzo Piano's sleek environment is artfully exhilarating and the patio offers views of the "Urban Light" exhibit outside the museum. Fernando Darin has left his role of executive chef. Dinner starters might include octopus with romesco and Spanish ham, followed by wood-fired pizzas, hanger steak and black sea bass. An herb garden behind the restaurant supplies ingredients for both cocktails and dishes. For dessert, you might find a dark chocolate tart with caramel, sea salt, and gold flakes. Brunch on the patio is a weekend adventure, particularly snacking on a fine Benedict burger or agnolotti del plin, truffled rice-stuffed pasta with hen of the woods, hazelnuts and arugula. Organic and sustainable wineries appear on the simple, crisp wine list. The serious bar program features seasonal cocktails and carefully curated spirits.
