Rojo Bistro Restaurant Review:

Rojo Bistro is not only one of Mexico City’s most pleasant French bistros in which to dine, but it also has one of the most reliable kitchens. In the fashionable Colonia Condesa, it is decorated a la bohème, with a smattering of posters of French beverages and films, a huge mirror, wooden chairs, and tables covered with both cloths and paper. Sidewalk seating is also available, a plus on balmy afternoons and nights. Relaxed and romantic, service can be a bit slow here, so be prepared to be patient. Among the best appetizers are a tangy tuna tartare, seasoned with capers and anchovies; a full-of-flavor tart with goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes; and the ensalada turena, a salad with pears, apples, goat cheese, nuts and lettuce in a honey-mustard dressing. There is also a luscious black risotto with cream, white wine and calamari; moist duck in a dried-fruit sauce; and mussels in a garlicky pesto sauce. The standout dessert is a warm tarte Tatin with fresh whipped cream. The wine list is small but well-chosen, with various tasty options from South Africa, Mexico, South America and Europe for under $40.
