THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Russ & Daughters Restaurant Review:

The Jewish Museum is the home of beloved deli family Russ & Daughters’ uptown café. Different from its Lower East Side siblings with a 100 percent kosher menu, it doles out vegetarian appetizing favorites and chopped liver made from nuts instead of their downtown meat counterparts. Pastrami-style smoked salmon is offered at all of the outposts. Standout options include open-faced sandwiches, shakshouka (an Israeli baked egg dish with tomato sauce, roasted peppers and caramelized onions) and Russ’s famous pickled herrings. Go with friends and share a platter of smoked fish that made the place famous, like the Hattie with whitefish, kippered salmon, Gaspe Nova salmon and sable. You’ll want to save room for the famous deli sweets: cheese blintzes served with fruit compote and sour cream, ice cream made of halvah, sesame and salted caramel, or honey cake (even if it isn’t Rosh Hashanah). Wine, cocktails and beer are offered. The popular spot can get noisy during prime museum hours. A takeout counter will let you satisfy a nosh attack.
