Ruth's Chris Steak House Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: For its 142nd location, Ruth's Chris Steak House expanded into Marina del Rey with a branch on the second level of the Marina Marketplace. The contemporary décor marks a departure from the dark look of traditional steakhouses. Glass wine towers flank the dining room, which has tables in the middle and booths on the sides. There's also a bar area and a back room that can be made private, as well as outdoor dining. This covered patio has a sophisticated, garden-like feel and features a fireplace and communal table.
Food & Drinks: Ruth's Chop Salad and the Kumato tomato and mozzarella caprese are serviceable, but the meat is the main attraction. The New Orleans-born chain is known for its USDA Prime cuts of corn-fed Midwestern beef, broiled at 1800 degrees and served sizzling in butter (unless requested otherwise). Depending on your appetite, select the 8 oz. petite filet or 22 oz. cowboy rib-eye. Special additions to the menu at this outpost include bone-in filet, bone-in New York strip and Tomahawk rib-eye steaks. All side orders are extra, and plenty to share, like the creamed spinach or potatoes au gratin. If beef is not your preference, the menu offers a selection of other entrées such as lamb chops, blue crab cakes and stuffed chicken breast. For dessert, the white chocolate bread pudding can be topped with your choice of crème anglaise spiked with Chambord, Tia Maria, Grand Marnier or Frangelico. The wine list offers plenty of big reds to complement those hearty steaks, but don't overlook cocktails like the excellent Manhattan Eastside and Broad Street Hurricane. Other locations.
