THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Sucre Restaurant Review:

The owners of Sucré take the neighborhood ice creamery and pastry shop to the next level. The interior of this chic “dessert boutique” is appropriately done in all ice cream colors, just to get you in the mood for tempting sweet treats. Pastry wizard and Food Network regular Tariq Hanna was lured from Detroit by Joel Dondis (owner of La Petite Grocery, Grand Isle) to open this Garden District establishment. At breakfast, begin with flaky French-style pastries and moist scones, then reappear later in the day for tarts and cakes in a rainbow of neon colors. Meanwhile, a constantly changing selection of gelati, with flavors ranging from lemon curd to dark chocolate, keeps everyone cool no matter the temperature. Sucré also sells its products in area grocery stores and on its retail website. If you’re seeking King Cake for Mardi Gras, look no further. Also located below its savory restaurant, Salon, in the French Quarter, 622 Conti St., 504-267-7098; and Lakeside Shopping Center, 3301 Veterans Pkwy., Metairie, 504-834-2277.
