T8 Restaurant Review:
Situated in a traditional shikumen building, which combines Chinese and western architectural styles, T8 is a long-running institution in Shanghai’s trendy Xintiandi entertainment complex. The restaurant’s interior has been tastefully designed by Jaya Ibrahim for a laid-back Asian feel, and the work of up-and-coming Chinese artists is displayed. Much of the dining area is arranged around the central open kitchen where it is possible to sit and watch the chefs at work. There are also tables with an element of privacy via Chinese screens. Food is modern European, largely Spanish thanks to executive chef Jordi Servalls Bonilla, with a slight Asian twist. Try innovative dishes like Chilean sea bass prepared in four ways, complemented by roasted garlic ice cream. The suckling pig is also a good choice. Service can be a bit patchy.
