A modern departure from the typical steakhouse setting, this venture --- in the sleek Westin Chicago North Shore --- remains a two-story beauty. Yet, the gracious, beefy menu forges on with a Prime dry-aged steak and seafood focus. Separate of food, eye candy comes in the form of a glass-walled waterfall and a massive, temperature-controlled, 10,000-bottle wine display. Not surprisingly, this isn’t a béarnaise kind of joint (although you will find the ubiquitous sauce among toppings like bordelaise, au poivre, sliced bone marrow and seared Hudson Valley foie gras). The 12-ounce, corn-fed New York strip is a sight to behold (and a joy to eat) --- nicely pink, pleasantly chewy and richly flavorful. As for à la carte sides like truffled mac ‘n’ cheese and twice-baked potatoes, there’s nary a dud. And desserts --- such as lemon shortcake --- should not be missed. The affordable wine list brings the first-rate vino selection down to earth.
