Trattoria Marcella Restaurant Review:

Owners Steve and Jamie Komorek's Italian “comfort food” far surpasses the typical red-sauce standard. For example, the brothers tweak toasted ravioli with a slow-braised beef filling, but we’d still opt to start a meal with roasted wild mushrooms with polenta fries or fritto misto, a dish of flash-fried calamari and spinach. The fresh pasta is the best in town, prepared in a nice mix of creative and traditional ways. Pay attention to the specials for treats like veal meatloaf or pizza with fennel sausage and cauliflower. Servers are smooth, appropriately casual and very familiar with the wine list, which offers a large number of first-rate choices in all price ranges. The Italian cocktails are notable, capitalizing on Americans’ growing familiarity with spirits like Campari, Aperol and St. Germain. A second location, Mia Sorella, is located in West County at 14426 Clayton Rd., 636-333-1015.
