Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill is an unapologetic bastion of butter and barbecue sauce. And though this outpost of the chain is located in the heart of health-conscious Los Angeles, it can still get busy on weekends, when The Grove is full to the brim with shoppers. The restaurant's most popular item, a tri-tip roast, is slow-roasted overnight, mesquite-grilled to order and accompanied by a choice of two of 15 signature sides. While meat is king of the menu, there are lighter options, too, such as salads, rainbow trout and balsamic shrimp, plus a few vegetarian items. Portions are generous, so plan to take some of your meal home if you want to also order the homemade warm chocolate cake or made-from-scratch apple or peach cobbler. The wine list has many California options, and there’s a nice craft cocktail selection.
