XOCO Restaurant Review:

While slightly on the pricier end for a grab-and-go joint, the tab for the slow-braised meats, wood burning oven cooked tortas and fresh guacamole offerings can potentially be justified, depending. A love of spice is almost essential, as many of the meals are rather fiery. Temper the heat of a sandwich like the pepito (braised Creekstone short ribs, caramelized onion, artisan Jack cheese, black beans and pickled jalapeños) with a selection from the guacamole bar, boasting eight toppings. Or wash it down with a fresh fruit agua fresca. Check for rotating lunch items, too. There are glazed churros (pistachio, hazelnut or chocolate-peanut are in rotation); add an espresso shot or some house-made ice cream to a plain version. Also located at 1471 N. Milwaukee Rd., Wicker Park.
