THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Azza Restaurant Review:

Azza, meaning “precious” in Arabic, is an ornately accented Moroccan space. Heavy wooden doors and rich curtains reveal a dining room with a mellow vibe. Persian rugs, red walls with gold frescos, and fancy lanterns transpose the room into a glowing, harissa-hued oasis. Chef Steven Ferdinand offers the customary Moroccan fare, drawing inspiration from French, Israeli and Iberian cuisines. The couscous Royal, lamb tagine with dried fruits, and mergues with red pepper coulis, are authentic but subtle. Mint, tomato-date jam, beets and spiced almonds appear in various plates, conjuring up an appetite for North Africa’s mystical flavors, which sadly fail to engage. The grapefruit brûlée, served with a sparkling sorbet, breaks the spell cast by the décor, while somewhere in the maze of colorful rooms a DJ plays sensual music with Middle Eastern influences. After all, Azza is more than just a restaurant. Its lounge, poker tables and pool table add intrigue to the evening.
