![]() : Partners Belinda Leong and Michel Suas opened this sun-soaked corner café to allay the daily lunch hour queues at their popular flagship b. patisserie just 100 feet away. The duo playfully accented a palette of soft greys and warm oaks with patterned, maroon subway tiles, and a yellow rotisserie matches both the outside crosswalk and the bows on a pair of pigs in a mural hand-painted by Suas’ daughter. Sandwiches incorporate rotisserie meats and soft, house-baked breads. The herbaceous Chicken Grec is formidable. Banh mi fans will appreciate the judiciously thin jalapeño. An earthy grilled cheese with mushroom duxelles and creamy tuna melt with tomato and cheddar are hot-pressed between thin slices of boule. Any sandwich can be made as a salad for $1. Chewy oatmeal-cherry and chocolate-walnut cookies are not to be missed, and the airy, crisp arlettes melt on the tongue. A rotation of sparkling fermented fruit juices is offered alongside standard sodas and cold-brew coffee. |
