THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED B-Side Lounge Restaurant Review:
THIS ESTABLISHMENT IS CLOSED Since the day it opened, the B-Side has been more like an A-side---an instant and enduring hit. The retro space is, to coin a paradox, carefully cluttered. A wire-frame airplane hangs from the ceiling; hard-boiled eggs dot the bar as Euro-style freebies; vinyl booths line the wainscotted walls. Meanwhile, crack bartenders mix cocktails like they mean it, yet the drink list doesn't want for blue-collar beauties like Schlitz. The menu likewise balances the high-brow with the rootsy: you’ve got your skillet-roasted Cornish hen in maple vinegar-rosemary sauce on the one hand, a funky take on an old-fashioned Ploughman’s Platter on the other, including venison-cherry sausage and spiced apple spread. And then there’s the $10 Shake (for $9): homemade vanilla ice cream blended with Godiva liqueur and chunks of bourbon-pecan pie. No wonder the hipster regulars arrive early and stay late.
