Burgers, beer and bottles (of wine): Are there any three things more essential to Mission District dining? The folks at B3 don’t think so, and aim to keep this trio of cravings satisfied. B3 offers 100 percent grass fed beef from Marin Sun Farms, perched atop pan de mie buns from Acme bakery. Burgers range from the “basic” (you choose the toppings) to the gourmet. The “Mission” arrived with chipotle peppers, caramelized onions and avocado. All burgers are served with a side of simple greens, but order the truffle fries: they are golden, crisp and not overwhelmingly truffled. Besides burgers, B3’s menu is stocked with other (mostly pub food) choices. Find beer-nirvana in one of eleven beers and two ciders on tap, or choose from the small but intriguing list of well curated, affordable wines by the taste, glass, half-bottle or bottle. The dining room is dark and quiet and the setting casual, making B3 a welcome refuge from the distractions of busy Valencia Street.
