Balaboosta Restaurant Review:
Einat Admony, who has worked in some high-profile kitchens, took a less prestigious job by running her own tiny walk-in falafel shop, Taim, in the West Village. But with Balaboosta she has her own, bigger stage in which to show off her prowess in Mediterranean cuisine. A goat cheese-stuffed lamb burger, between a soft brioche bun, is a savory, creamy mess, and the shakshouka---a tomato, egg and sausage stew meant to be mopped up with thick pieces of country bread---is a satisfying, rib-sticking delight. Other standouts include chicken cooked under a brick and paired with Israeli couscous and shrimp wrapped in phyllo and then sprinkled with flying fish roe. The wine list spans the globe, and includes a few nice selections from Lebanon and Israel.
